The IGBC Yellowstone Ecosystem Subcommittee is seeking public feedback through Friday, December 15, 2023 on a draft revision of Chapter 2 of the Conservation Strategy for the Grizzly Bear in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem

Chapter 2 describes demographic criteria, monitoring, and related information for the GYE population.

The draft revision of Chapter 2 incorporates the Interagency Grizzly Bear Study Team’s adoption of the integration population model for population estimation in the GYE. The YES Subcommittee is considering these draft revisions to Chapter 2 in parallel to draft revisions being made to the tri-state agreement for managing discretionary mortality (Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming). Once the states have approved revisions to the tri-state agreement via their respective state processes, the updated agreement will replace Appendix O in conjunction with Conservation Strategy revisions.

The draft revision of Chapter 2 (dated 11/15/23) is 23 pages in length. For reference, the YES Committee provided a review of related documents and processes and a background and timeline since the 2016 Conservation Strategy at their meeting on November 9, 2023. Please use the form on the Yellowstone Ecoystem Subcommittee page, or click this link to provide feedback.
