The Executive Committee of the Interagency Grizzly Bear Committee is convening virtually this week for its summer meeting.
The public is invited to the virtual meeting, which will run June 15-17 via Zoom. June 15 is a closed executive session and June 16-17 are open to the public. Login information is posted online with the agenda at igbconline.org in the Meetings section. The meeting will begin at 9 a.m. both days.
Among items on the agenda, the IGBC will welcome new Executive Coordinator David Diamond. In this position, David will work with the IGBC Chair, the IGBC Executive Committee, its five ecosystem recovery subcommittees, and its education and science subcommittees to move the IGBC forward with its mission to support recovery, delisting and ongoing conservation of grizzly bear populations through interagency coordination of policy, planning, management, research and communication.
David previously served as the Executive Coordinator of the Greater Yellowstone Coordinating Committee since 2016. He worked closely with leaders and expert staff from two national parks, five national forests, three BLM districts, two wildlife refuges, and three state wildlife agencies. From 2010 to 2016, David served as an advisor at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. From 2000 to 2010, he served as a Presidential Management Fellow in the Office of the Secretary of the Interior, and later as a Special Assistant to the Regional Director of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. David lives in Bozeman with his wife and two daughters.
The IGBC meeting will also focus on conflict reduction partnerships and community collaborations, as well as the IGBC budget and interagency agreements, IGBC structure and workplan.
Jacque Buchanan with the U.S. Forest Service is currently the chair of the IGBC Executive Committee and Toby Boudreau with Idaho Fish and Game is vice-chair.
