The Executive Committee of the Interagency Grizzly Bear Committee (IGBC) will meet in person July 6-8 in Ponderay, ID.

The meeting will take place at the Best Western Plus, 477326 Highway 95. Ponderay, ID. On the afternoon of July 6 and the morning of July 8 there is an opportunity to join to the meeting remotely.

During these two sessions, the IGBC will:

  • hear the presentation of the report from the Board of Review on the Ovando fatality last year;
  • hear a presentation from the Bear Smart Communities working group, which has been developing proposals for a program to support collaborative community-based strategies that benefit both people and bears by reducing conflicts and improving human safety in areas where people and bears share the landscape; and
  • continue the ongoing strategic discussion from March.

On July 7, the IGBC will conduct a field visit with members of the Selkirk and Cabinet-Yaak Subcommittees and other partners.

The IGBC’s mission is to support recovery, delisting and ongoing conservation of grizzly bear populations through interagency coordination of policy, planning, management, research and communication. The Committee is chaired by Deputy Regional Forester Jacqueline Buchanan.
